yoga teaching philosophy
A member of the global mala, I teach an invigorating and creative prana vinyasa flow. My classes are full of pranic, wave-like motion and offer the sensation of dancing on the mat. I cultivate embodiment and presence in my students and encourage all to live fully and happily on and off the mat. You are empowered to discover your own inner rhythms and creative movement as you travel the path.
Creating and holding a sacred space is integral to my teaching. I pay special attention to nuances that foster openness and possibility. I love leaving a yoga class with the exhilarating feeling of having just experienced a great workout and the rejuvenation of spending over an hour relaxing my mind and cultivating my spirit. That is a gift my teachers give to me, and one I strive to give to all of my students.
I am dedicated to creating community in my classes. We get to know our fellow classmates as we breathe and move together. It’s about sharing the journey and fostering a sense of compassion in the greater community.
My practice began in 2001 during my theater training in college. I became inspired by the infinite beauty and dynamism possible in the movement of the human body. I studied biomechanics and a blend of yoga and modern dance techniques, and subsequently approach my theater directing through a physical perspective. Curious to learn more about the 8-limbs of yoga and the intricacies of anatomy, I started my teacher training journey in 2007 in Washington, DC at Tranquil Space. I taught full-time in the DC area for two years before moving to Los Angeles in 2009 for graduate school. In 2010, I began my RYT-500 hour training with Shiva Rea and am thrilled to be a part of her international community of teachers.
